This 2018 Audi Q7 3.0L Diesel has covered 85,000 km, and its owner believes in fixing problems before they become expensive.
The moment he noticed a slight suspension noise, he brought the vehicle straight to Germantech for inspection. That single decision made all the difference.
The Diagnosis
Our initial lift inspection confirmed the source of the noise. The heavy multi-link suspension of the Q7 places immense stress on its rubber hydro-mounts and control arm bushings, especially during heavy acceleration and braking.
Our diagnosis showed that only two control arms required complete replacement. For the remaining suspension components, the metal arms themselves were structurally sound — only the rubber bushings had fatigued and cracked.
The Financial Impact
Because the issue was identified early, we were able to press out the failed bushings and install new ones, saving the healthy control arms.
If the owner had ignored the small clunking noise, the excessive play in the worn bushings would have rapidly transferred stress to the ball joints, tie rods, and sway bar links. This domino effect would have turned a targeted bushing replacement into a complete, highly expensive front suspension overhaul, alongside severe and premature tire wear.
Why Preventive Maintenance Matters
Ignoring small noises in a premium car almost always leads to wear in connected components. The suspension geometry on a heavy vehicle like the Audi Q7 is highly precise. When one component introduces slack, the rest of the system overcompensates and fails.
Early diagnosis not only protects your vehicle’s complex engineering but also saves you significant money in the long run.
If your premium car develops even a minor noise, vibration, or wandering feeling, do not wait for it to become a bigger problem.
